Swedish Premier League outfit, AIK Solna, are considering re-signing Sierra Leonean international striker, Mohamed ‘Poborsky’ Bangura.
The forward, who is currently a free agent, is presently training with the Swedish club as he continues his fitness drive after a knee surgery, and he played two friendly matches with the club over the weekend.
AIK Sporting Director, Bjorn Wesström, said they will together explore the possibility of re-signing the player following a good training workout.
“Now we will together explore the possibility that the conditions are favorable that he can play for us again,” Wesström said.
The club’s manager, Andreas Alm, was impressed with the striker and told SportExpressen.se after the game: “I think it looked good. He played a central role in our three-man attack and did well there. There is much to recognize from the past.”
Despite Bangura not being on the score sheet, AIK won the match 2-0 with goals from Alexander Milosevic and Marko Nikolic, but Alm was still impressed.
“He has been training with us for quite some time and there are many factors that must run smoothly for it to be the case with a contract. We have now tested him and I think it has been successful for both parties. I am pleased with what I have seen,” he said.
Bangura left AIK and joined Scottish club Celtic in 2011 but his spell with the Scotland giant was marred by injuries. He had a short spell with Elfsborg before joining Turkish side Istanbul BB where he later terminated his contract on mutual consent due to knee injury.
