President Julius Maada Bio yesterday reinstated Abu Abu Abdulai Koroma as the Resident Minister, North, after his suspension from office a month ago.

The resident minister was suspended in May by President Bio after he was seen in a short video footage that went viral on social media, in which he had threatened to shoot and kill youth in that part of the country, should they engage in any act of violence.

The minister was seen in the said video addressing stakeholders, youth and some security officials. He had threatened that, ‘we will kill you if death is what you want and we will disable you so that you will sit at home.’

The video which went viral on social media came days after youth went on the rampage in the northern town of Lunsar and Tombo in the Western Rural, where they burnt down the health centre and a police station.

Just after that footage, President Bio immediately suspended Abu Abu on May 10, thus authorizing Haja Isata  Abdulai Kamara, Resident Minister, North-West to act as resident minister, north.

Meanwhile, many people had considered his action as unfortunate and celebrated his suspension, but reinstatement would be deemed ironic to the president position on lawlessness and indiscipline.

His suspension from office attracted mix feelings from the public and civil society activists too had advocated his sackings.

Whilst some people went on the street in celebration of his suspension, others protested against it.

Yesterday, a press statement signed by the Secretary to President states that, “I write to inform you that it has pleased His Excellency the President to reinstate you as Resident Minister, Northern Province with immediate effect.
