One Sheka Koroma in Freetown was yesterday sentenced to three years imprisonment by Magistrate Komba Kamanda of Court No. 2 for being found in possession of 15 parcels of cannabis sativa without lawful authority.
The accused was arraigned on one count of unlawful possession of cannabis sativa contrary to Section 48(1) of the Pharmacy and Drugs Act of 2001.
The prosecution alleged that the accused, on Monday February 10, 2014, at the Sierra Leone Road Transport Cooperation (SLRTC) mini bus terminal, Shell Kissy, was found in possession of a quantity of cannabis sativa without lawful authority.
In his ruling, Magistrate Kamanda noted that the accused is one among many others who are bent on transforming the country into a drugs state, especially after being found at a bus terminal about to traffic drugs out of the country.
